The best camera is the one you have with you {Cottage Grove, Oregon Photographer}

Most people expect professional photographers to be camera snobs who only use the biggest and best equipment money can buy. And to an extent, this can be true. Of course I would never shoot a paid session with my iPhone, but you know what? That little camera can be the best camera in the world if it’s the one you have with you when the perfect shot comes along.

When my daughter was born 17 months ago, I started a personal blog for our family to be able to watch her grow since they don’t live nearby. I take at least one picture of Paige every day for that blog. It is not always convenient to pull out my DSLR and put on the right lens for my current situation. Sometimes, if I was to even try that, I would miss the perfect shot all together. Because my phone is always in my pocket, I can catch those shots that show off her ever-changing personality.

Here are just a couple of examples of this theory in action.

I certainly won’t be enlarging these on a 20×30 canvas to hang over the fireplace, but they do serve their purpose. And I wouldn’t have gotten any of these pictures if I had to rely on my “good” camera. The best camera is the one you have with you.
