Three on Thursday {Cottage Grove, Oregon Photographer}

1. I spent Monday and Tuesday at the Professional Photographers of Oregon Summer School and entered 4 of my favorite prints in the print critique. The summer print critique is not a formal print competition, but is a great way to see how your prints will do at the annual conference in February. This was my first time entering prints at a PPO event, so I didn’t know exactly what the judges would be looking for. The judges felt that with some very minor changes, at least two of my prints would be “merit” prints (scoring 80 or above). As they were, I scored 76, 77, and two 78s, which I think was pretty good for my first time entering, or even seeing the judging for print competition/critique. Now I know what I need to change for next time, and I also know how important the title is!

2. While in Portland, I visited ProPhoto Supply and bought myself a new 24-70 2.8L lens. I had planned on waiting until all of my old lenses sold, but I am down to the last one, and I just couldn’t help myself. I have only used it for a few shots in the last day and a half since I bought it, but it is sooooo nice!

3. I have regularly given some of my event pictures to the Cottage Grove Sentinel when they are unable to get a picture of a particular event, but I think this is the first time they have printed one as a full half-page!
