Holiday Card Design #1 – “Joy”

For our first daily post for our Limited Edition Holiday Card Portraits, I would like to share the first of our 7 available pre-designed card options. This card will work for either of our sets, but will look particularly nice with our Winter Wonderland set. Light blue with a touch of red (and a little “glitter” for fun), this card is perfect for the family who loves to have fun and isn’t afraid to show it!

If you haven’t already booked your Holiday Card Portrait Session, contact me right away before you miss out!

Fun on Friday & Holiday Cards {Cottage Grove, Oregon Photographer}

Starting on Monday, I will be posting something about our Limited Edition Holiday Card Portrait Sessions every day. I will share all 7 of our pre-designed holiday cards and I will also be posting pictures of our two different sets (which are still in progress, so you’ll just see some sneak peeks at first).

Don’t forget, there are only 10 sessions available — 5 for each set — so book your session today!

And now, for a very short update on what’s happening around Cottage Grove this weekend…

Tomorrow is the Statewide Beach & River Cleanup , and the Coast Fork Willamette Watershed Council will be hosting their annual River Celebration & work party. The day will begin with a work party, focusing on ivy removal near the Chambers Railroad Bridge from 8am – noon (meeting at the South Lane Fire & Rescue Station on Harrison), and will conclude with a block party for volunteers & area neighbors after the work is done. For more information about beach & river clean-up opportunities around Oregon, visit the SOLV website and get involved in making our community & environment a better place to live!

If you need something to do next week, do your produce shopping at the Grower’s Market at Coiner Park from 4-8pm.

I know it seems way too early to be thinking about your holiday cards, but the holiday season will be here before we know it! By taking the time to get your holiday card portraits done now, you will have them back well before Thanksgiving and have plenty of time to get them addressed and mailed. Just think how great it will feel to get one thing crossed off your list early this year!

And in case you missed it on the graphic above, we are also incorporating a food drive into our Limited Edition Holiday Card Sessions this year! Cottage Grove Community Sharing is always in need of donations of all kinds, but one of their most needed items is something that we rarely think to donate. I contacted the Community Sharing food pantry last week to see what they were most in need of right now, and I was surprised to learn that they are always in desperate need of toilet paper. So, instead of just doing a traditional food drive, we will also be collecting any toiletries that you would like to donate. Please be sure that all items are in their original packaging and unopened, and that any food is within the “use by” date (please don’t burden them with expired or nearly expired food that they cannot use!).

As a thank you for donating to our food drive, we will give you a complimentary 8×10 print from your session if you bring at least 5 food or toiletry items for donation. Crossing your holiday cards off your list and helping out community members in need…what could be better?

Fun on Friday {Cottage Grove, Oregon Photographer}

It’s going to be another hot weekend here in Cottage Grove! I suspect many of you will be spending time at the river or lake, or maybe heading to the coast for the day to cool off. If you’re around on Sunday, check out all of the events happening for Cycle Oregon.

Cycle Oregon rides into town on Sunday. Cycle Oregon is a great fundraiser for our community, and there is a lot of entertainment planned for them (and the rest of the community) on Sunday while they are in town. Most of the activity will be happening at Bohemia Park (10th and Main), but there will also be a community celebration and marketplace along Main Street between 5th & 8th Streets from 10am to 8pm on Sunday.

If you need something to do next week, do your produce shopping at the Grower’s Market at Coiner Park from 4-8pm and check out the Concert in the Park to hear the Annie Mae Rhodes Band starting at 6:30.

Thursday Thoughts {Cottage Grove, Oregon Photographer}

It’s been another crazy week around our house! David went back to work last week and has already put in a 10 hour day yesterday and then went back at 6:30 this morning to make sure everything was set up and ready to go for the welcome back assembly this morning. Paige and I have been at the school every day for one reason or another, and it will probably continue that way for a while. After getting to be home with both of us all day every day for the whole summer, she can’t handle Daddy being gone at work all day. She is constantly checking the office to see if he is in there so she can give him a high five. It’s going to be a bit of a transition for her, especially now that the kids are back at school and we can’t just pop in to see him whenever we want.

We’ve been making progress on the fireplace removal project. Since the last post, we have repaired the floor, put up drywall in the living room (still need to tape & mud), built the entire built-in unit and put it in place. I took pictures of the floor when it was half finished, but forgot to take pictures of the finished product, so I’ll have to post floor pictures another time, but here is a shot of what the wall looks like now.

Paige has been so interested in “helping” that we had to go out and buy her some tools of her own. For now, we just got her a little hammer and wrench, but I’m sure she will be getting more tools to add to her collection for Christmas & her birthday. (That would be a hint for the grandpas…):)

And with that, I hear Paige waking up from her nap so it’s time to take Daddy his lunch.:)
